Established in Kelburn, Wellington in 1981, by former Apprentice of the Year, Ian Douglas, The Village Goldsmith quickly established a niche in the marketplace with its mixture of innovative design, uncompromising quality and value for money. Master jeweller Gary Chapman joined soon after inception and the business flourished.

In 1997 the business relocated to a new larger premises in The Dominion Building on the corner of Mercer and Victoria Streets.

It now has 5 manufacturing staff, 4 retail staff and administrative personnel, and the latest in manufacturing and design technology.
